United States Code

The United States Code contains the general and permanent laws of the United States in effect as of January, 1994; January, 1995 or January, 1996 depending on the title. It is prepared and published by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel, U.S. House of Representatives. The database is updated periodically, annotating changes to individual sections. Whole titles are superseded annually as the editing process for each title is completed.

U.S. Code Table of Popular Names [Top]]

The Table of Popular Names is a list of common names for legislative acts. Where possible, Popular Names has been linked to a relevant section of the U.S. Code. However, often a given legislative act is codified in many different Titles. In such cases, the entry has been left in the Table, for reference purposes, but a Title has not been linked to the entry.

The "Parts" listed below are not included in the original text of the U.S. Code. They are provided for the WWW-reader's convenience.

Popular Names are listed in alphabetical order. Thus, to find a given Popular Name, simply click on the Part which includes the entry in which you are interested. (Note: Numbers are to be spelled out. Thus, "1981" would be listed under "Nineteen....")
